CURRENT EVENTS, CLASSES & OPPORTUNITIES:

My Current Hand-building Rates for 2024 are as follows:

Private classes (1 student) - $375 per person

2 Person Group (2 students) - $325 per person

3 Person Group (3 students) - $300 per person

4 Person Group (4 students) - $275 per person

MAXIMUM OF 4 PEOPLE FOR GROUPS

Each Monthly Session Includes:

• 2 hours of hand-building instruction
  • Must arrive 15-30 mins before for setting up workstation AND allocate 15-30 mins after class ends for clean-up.
  • This way you get the full 2 hours for clay work (this is not allowed at most local community studios)
• 25lbs of white stoneware clay per student 
  • Porcelain is at an additional cost and not advised until you get to be an intermediate level.
• Pottery tools, supplies, buckets, sponges, brushes, plastic/paper, misc. accessories, etc. 
  • *Please note I buy higher quality items/tools than any studio I currently work at because I believe better tools produce better results! *
• 1 storage shelf space for work per student
• 1 studio pause box per student for storing works in progress.
• Up to 32oz of commercial Glazes and underglazes per student
  • You just weigh out what you use so you can utilize multiple different colors instead of being stuck with only 2 different 16oz glazes.
• 1 free class for guided glazing instruction after the 4 week session ends 
  • Glazing takes time so this class will be a 4hr class but may be combined with other students to accommodate my availability and for wet work to dry out before it can be fired. 
    • This class will be 7-14 days after your final class ends for that session.
• 1 bisque fire and 1 glaze fire 
• Lesson Plans are decided together with each adult student/group
  • The week before classes begin, I require my students to provide me with at least 3 different ideas of the things they want to make each session. This is so I can understand not only their goals and what they want to spend their time on and be proud of once finished, but also allow for a discussion for setting realistic expectations and how to achieve the skills they need to accomplish their goals. This also provides me with information about how much work they want to produce (space is limited) as well as factoring quality over quantity of each lesson. This provides the freedom to adjust the instruction method and tools as necessary ahead of classes, as well as make sure everyone is receiving the right information and learning the proper skills/techniques. 

Current Availability:

Tuesdays or Thursdays are preferred but may be able to accommodate other days depending on my availability at the time of registration.

Adult Handbuilding Cups & Bowls

When: Wednesdays

Time: 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Cost: $200

 Students will focus on making cups/mugs and bowls utilizing slab building techniques. Due to this being a 5 week session we are keeping the forms simple to allow for more personal and individual creativity to be showcased during class. Students will have freedom to decorate and design their pieces utilizing as many surface design techniques as they see fit. Students can add clay designs using slip/score method, carve out designs, or add textures to their hearts content on their pieces. Utilizing open studio sessions will allow for students to make an additional piece outside of class to further practice all the methods and techniques learned in class or use that time to glaze their works.
